Drag a bar magnet freely around one or two coils connected to a light bulb (a voltmeter can be added in parallel): the bulb lights only while the magnetic flux through the coil is changing, and goes out when the magnet is still, however close it is. Moving faster, keeping the magnet on the coil axis, adding the second coil or increasing the magnet strength all make the bulb brighter; flipping the poles or reversing the motion makes the voltmeter swing the other way. Show the magnetic field lines to see the closed loops around the magnet change with its position and poles. How to use

Parameters you can change

  • Coils in the circuit 1 coil (4 turns), 2 coils (4 turns + 2 turns)
  • Show voltmeter
  • Show magnetic field lines
  • Left pole of the magnet North pole (N) on the left, South pole (S) on the left
  • Magnet strength 20–100 %
